But everything's going OK in Iraq! We're gonna have elections! The people are fighting for themselves! There will be democracy! They'll sell us oil!
Michael Hussey has a great post about what's really going on in Iraq. Here's the beginning of it:
The situation in Iraq is being discussed daily on the campaign trail, but the news coverage about the situation has been greatly lacking in details. The problem is that it is now too dangerous to leave the Green Zone. The truth of the matter is reporters have become bloggers in Iraq. They do no firsthand reporting and rely and sympathetic Iraq civilians to go outside the Green Zone to provide information for their stories. Many cities have become no-go zones in Iraq.
And here's the end:
After doing some gogling for this post I have my own questions.
1. How can we have elections in Iraq if there is no security and everyone (soldiers, citizens, and journalists) feel like prisoners?
2. How can the America make a decision about Iraq during an election year when it is becoming harder for reporters to covers the stories?
3. Are their any bloggers out there that bitch about the liberal media not reporting the good stories in Iraq willing to go over there with their laptop and show them how it's done? [Heh. Rhetorical questions are the best.]
