My hosting company Dreamhost has experienced some power outages today, which has caused Loaded Mouth's database to go offline. So welcome to the Blogger backup and your Friday Night Open Thread goodness.

Loaded Mouth's days of running Drupal are officially over, thanks to the bullshit those motherfuckers at Dreamhost are putting me through. Word to any future bloggers: don't sign up for Dreamhost's webhosting. They're technical support is nonexistent and, case in point, they will pull you website down without warning for supposed infractions that somehow are never discussed in their Terms of Service agreement. They are the worst webhosting company I've ever dealt with and they definitely aren't earning me back as a repeat customer. Dreamhost may look cheap, but do yourself a favor and don't deal with them -- it's not worth it.

So, after Dreamhost kills the Drupal version of your blog and forces you back onto Blogger, what's a blogger to do?

Install Wordpress. Which I'm currently doing as you read this.

Dreamhost has, without warning, taken down Loaded Mouth as we know it

All I wanted to do was eat lunch, goto the gym, then do a little more reading and goto work. That's. All. I. Wanted. To. Do. And not to sound like a spoiled brat who never gets what he wants, but, you know, that's not too much to fucking ask.

Instead, while I'm mowing down my sandwich, I check my inbox and see that I've received an email from my Dreamhost Technical Support. Dreamhost is my webhost for Loaded Mouth, and as many readers know I've had my difficulties with them in the past.

And this email told me, essentially, that Loaded Mouth is being shut down because I use too much CPU time on their servers. This is despite the fact that Dreamhost does not have CPU time limits in their Terms of Service, and also despite the fact that other sites on Dreamhost, which are larger than Loaded Mouth and use the same software that I use, are still online.

What's even more preposterous is that Dreamhost took down Loaded Mouth without notice.

Now, technically they didn't take the whole site down because I can still use Blogger, but if I wanted a Blogger blog then I'd just get a domain name for free from Blogspot.com and not have to deal with any of this webhosting bullshit. But I don't want a blog running Blogger, I want a blog running Drupal. I paid for two years of webhosting in advance and I'm super pissed that Dreamhost can't comply with their end of the bargain and, in effect, stealing my money.

So, instead of relaxing and getting my out of shape body back into some shape, I'll be spending the rest of my afternoon, before my night shift at work, doing fucking bullshit to get the Drupal version -- the actual version of Loaded Mouth -- back online.

Go ahead, somebody ask me if I still want to be a blogger. I dare you.

(For those who ask, the answer is yes -- I just don't want to run a blog anymore.)

Well, the database blew up again. I've switched the blog over to Blogger (and the old design, with all the old posts from last year!) while I try to fix the errors this time.
