They're laughing, eh

Headline from the Canadian London Free Press:

Arnold ready to govern 'Caleefornia'

Schwarzenegger says nothing about how he's going to turn around state's woes.

I love it.

Of course, the destruction of our democracy in lieu of another Republican coup is not a laughing matter. If you look at the raw figures from the popular vote, Arnold only received 3,744,132 votes, but Davis received 4,416,280 votes, 672,000 more votes then Arnold, and he lost. The media can't stop talking about how this election was a "blowout", but then attribute that blowout to being in favor of Arnold. Take a look at the popular votes and tell me who blew out who.

And this certainly isn't democracy. It's a coup, plain and simple. The Republicans have, yet again, installed who they want in office despite the results of the popular vote, just like they did in the 2000 presidential election. They have set a dangerous and scary precedent wherein their actions dictate that they don't give a shit about how the majority of the electorate votes for, the election results don't actually count when the Republicans lose. They impeached Clinton, installed Bush in office after any reasonable and unbiased view of the 2000 election says that he lost Florida, and he lost the popular vote hands down. Now another Democrat who won the election isn't in office, even though he received the most popular votes.
