Drudge airs his bias and jumps the gun, again

As you might have heard by now, Drudge Report has "broke" the story that John Kerry diddled an intern. Here's the full text of that story:

A frantic behind-the-scenes drama is unfolding around Sen. John Kerry and his quest to lockup the Democratic nomination for president, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.

Intrigue surrounds a woman who recently fled the country, reportedly at the prodding of Kerry, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

A serious investigation of the woman and the nature of her relationship with Sen. John Kerry has been underway at TIME magazine, ABC NEWS, the WASHINGTON POST, THE HILL and the ASSOCIATED PRESS, where the woman in question once worked.

A close friend of the woman first approached a reporter late last year claiming fantastic stories -- stories that now threaten to turn the race for the presidency on its head!

In an off-the-record conversation with a dozen reporters earlier this week, General Wesley Clark plainly stated: "Kerry will implode over an intern issue." [Three reporters in attendance confirm Clark made the startling comments.]

The Kerry commotion is why Howard Dean has turned increasingly aggressive against Kerry in recent days, and is the key reason why Dean reversed his decision to drop out of the race after Wisconsin, top campaign sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

Unfortunately, this is what counts for journalism in America today. Read through Drudge's report a couple of times, you'll notice that this is all rumor - there are no facts to support his claims. Nothing. Drudge has essentially (again) made a big story about what are only rumors, whether or not these rumors are true.

I can do nothing but shake my head. It's just ridiculous, it really is. Where was Drudge when Margie Schoedinger filed a rape lawsuit against Dubya? Where was Drudge to explore Margie Schoedinger's rather untimely death that was ruled a suicide after she filed this lawsuit? These accusations are just about as valid as the ones Drudge has levied against Kerry, and now there's a dead body involved which makes this a potentially bigger story. But Drudge doesn't seem to care facts, he's only concerned with his own bias and how he can shape the national media against Bush's enemies.
