And do they have a defense against this?

Human Rights Watch knows how clean up Iraqi prisons.

Human Rights Watch called on the U.S. government to reveal all places of detention where security or terrorist suspects are being held, and to permit independent, impartial and public investigations of all facilities where the U.S. military and intelligence community are holding detainees.

In light if the crimes we know have been committed, one would think this is a no-brainer. But when has Bush listened to anyone who isn't named Rumsfeld?

Human Rights Watch requested access for its investigators to all U.S. detention facilities, wherever security or terrorist suspects are being held, on whatever grounds. Human Rights Watch has repeatedly sought to visit U.S. military detention facilities ? including in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Guantanamo Bay ? without success.

In response to this, posing the question "What do they have to hide?" can no longer be considered conspiracy-baiting. We've already seen what's happening in Iraq, heard rumors that we've killed thousands of prisoners in Afghanistan, and know that something is happening at GitMo. What does Bush have to hide? And if everything is legal, why not open up these prisons?

No wonder Bush 'unsigned' the treaty for an international war crimes court.
