You must participate in the right wing Reagan wank fest, or else!

Dan Rather and Tom Brokaw have said that the coverage of Reagan's death has been excessive. (Gee, ya think?) This caused Right Wing News to shit a brick.

Note that Brokaw and Rather didn't come out and say the coverage was "excessive" in the middle of stories like Enron, "Bush Knew", the 9/11 hearings, Abu Ghraib, the DC sniper killings, Gary Condit & Chandra Levy, Baghdad Museum, looting in Iraq, Valerie Plame, the 16 words SOTU speech controversy, etc, etc, etc.

Uhm, first of all, Rather actually did come out against the Condit/Levy story, and wouldn't cover it until he was forced to because of outcry from right wing assholes that this website caters to. Secondly, notice how he so conveniently skipped over a certain story about Clinton and a blowjob, or Clinton and Vince Foster. Both of those qualified as receiving "excessive" coverage, don'tcha think? And speaking of useless stories which received exessive coverage, what about them weapons of mass destruction?! Thirdly, all of the stories he mentioned were (and some still are) actual stories with legs, and they were about actual crimes. Enron was the biggest corporate bankruptcy in history, he doesn't want that story covered? The DC sniper killings terrorized a whole city for weeks, but those shouldn't have been covered? The Plame Affair highlights a crime committed by somebody close to Bush, if not Bush himself. This crime could have lost some people their lives, and it was committed for petty reasons. That's not a story?

Honest to fucking god. What does this say about the mindset of your average right wing Bush voter? Any story about the Bush administration that's negative, no matter what the facts are, just shouldn't get coverage? Are they so partisan that they just don't care if there boy wonder in office is a criminal? Because if you ignore stories where there's are solid facts that crimes were committed by some of the highest authorities in the Bush administration, like Abu Ghraib and the Plame Affair, that tells me that you just don't care if Bush is a criminal or not. And these are the same people who couldn't stop screaming, "CLINTON GOT A BLOWJOB! OH MY GOD! SOCIETY IS RUINED!" But if Bush or members of his administration commit actual crimes, that's not a problem.

What a bunch of fucking hypocrites. As if this isn't enough, they can't even reply to some of Rather's criticisms which make a lot of sense. For example:

"There is other news, like the reality of Iraq," said the "CBS Evening News" anchor. "It got very short shrift this weekend."

Yes, where is Iraq? How about details about the Kurds, the PKK attacking Turkish forces, and how this situation could destabilize Iraq pretty quickly? How come you have to goto blogs run by shitheads like me to learn this stuff? And hey, have you heard anything about the G8 conference on Sea Island in Georgia? I haven't even had time to get to that yet, but it doesn't help that it's not even in the fucking headlines.

Yet these shitheads have the audacity to complain about Rather and Brokaw saying that the too much time is being spent on Reagan. They really don't care about the quality of the media or how informed people are, they just think this week should be one big Reagan wank fest/Republican commercial. No articles that feature negative opinions against Reagan. And former presidents who just happen to be Democrats certainly can't speak at Reagan's funeral, which our taxes are paying for.

Fuck this. I'm sick of getting Reagan shoved down my throat. The guy fucking died, OK? Bang fuck boom, he's fucking dead. There's your story. Now move the fuck on.
