The Five O'Clock Follies

Here's what the military says.

A series of large military offensives over the past few months culminating in the battle for Fallujah has given U.S. military commanders here a sense of having gained ground against Iraq's fierce insurgency, but they predict no easy victory in pressing the attack and remain particularly concerned about a rising campaign of intimidation.

And here's what's actually happening.

Insurgents in Iraq mounted a third straight day of serious attacks yesterday, killing 17 people when they opened fire on buses delivering workers to an ordnance disposal site.

At least 70 Iraqis, many of them members of the police and security forces, have been killed since Friday in attacks across central and northern Iraq.

It's great that we're "gained ground," since we're apparently going to be needing that ground to bury more bodies in.

Oh yeah, we have no clue where bin Laden is. This, no doubt, is due in part to the military using press conferences to publicly state where exactly they were searching for bin Laden. I mean, fucking duuuuh!

I can't believe people voted for this dipshit.
