The Evil Empire based in Redmond, WA., faces US government fines of upto 2.2 TRILLION dollars. This is because Microsoft had not improved the security of Passport. Last year, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) told the Church of Gates that if they didn't make Passport secure, they would face an $11,000 fine with each security violation. Microsoft's Passport caters to 200 million accounts, and a security lapse that Microsoft admitted to this week left all of those accounts able to be accessed by anyone, anywhere. 11,000 * 200,000,000 = 2,200,000,000,000. Cha-ching!

Realistically, of course, trillion dollar fines against Microsoft will never happen. Its fun to think about, though..
