From the "Could these people buy a fucking clue with all the donations and bribes they get?" dept., the New York Times reports that the Bush administration is backing legislation in the Senate that would lift the ban on the development of small nuclear arms.

Just for kicks, I'll post these facts that I got from Open Secrets: the Defense industry donated $9,089,933 and $9,439,222 to the Republican Party in, respectively, the 2000 and 2002 election cycles. That amount to 64% and 63% of their donations during that cycle, with the lesser amount of money donated going to the Democrats. One wonders this these facts play a role in the policy of the Bush administration. I mean, they still want to receive this money, right?
