I can't let this pass without comment. You're probably heard the initial reports by now of 3000 North Koreans dead or injured when two trains, loaded with fuel, crashed at a station north of Pyongyang. But it appears that fat winner of the asian Elvis impersonator contest is tying to cover it up like nothing happened.

North Korea appears to have cut international telephone lines to the area to prevent information about the explosion getting out, Yonhap added. The North appears to have declared a type of emergency in the area...

Residents in Pyongyang said by telephone there was nothing unusual in the capital. North Korean television was broadcasting military songs and music -- standard evening fare.

Nothing unusual? This a fucking tragedy. There's no justification for this behavior from the government of a nation. None.

Let's hope this 3000 figure is downgraded if and when we're able to find out more about the accident.

[Update 23:20 - To be fair with my criticism, I tried finding out more about this story on CNN.com, but their front page didn't even have the word "Korea" on it. Some "news" source. The BBC has it as their main story.]
