I Just Can't Avoid The "Void" In "Avoid"

The rag of record which fires a black reporter for lying about stories, but is totally OK with a white reporter reporting lies she was fed from somebody who may be an Iranian intelligence agent, has a glowing report on job growth in May. "Healthy Expansion of 248,000 Jobs Is Reported for May," even the headline makes things sound so rosy!

I was wondering if these newly created jobs would pay the rent. I read the article from the beginning, wondering when the Times would mention just what type of jobs have been created. Then I kept reading, kept reading, kept reading... Don't tell me they are going to ignore this. Ah! Here we go, in the 20th paragraph!

Job growth in May was particularly strong for temporary workers, in health care, in hotel and restaurant work and in retailing. These are often low-wage jobs, and Jared Bernstein, a senior labor economist at the Economic Policy Institute, argued yesterday that lower-wage jobs had been expanding as a share of total employment at the expense of higher-paying jobs.

Well, nothing like keeping this information buried. The article goes on to counter this paragraph with a few things, saying wages have risen 2.2% and 32,000 manufacturing jobs have been created. Of course, it doesn't mention that gas prices have gone up much higher than 2.2%, and it neglects to place a figure on the amount of low wage jobs created.

This article is horribly biased. One would hope the Times will do a better job reporting the news in the future. I suppose it would help if they took Bush's cock out of their mouths, first.
