Stupidity of parade

My coworker and I have been talking about the explosives looting story. She found a story about it on CNN, and after reading a few unbelievable quotes from Bush administration officials to me, I asked her to send me the link. And she did. I hope you're ready for some blinding stupidity...

McClellan, talking to reporters on Air Force One, said the storage site was the responsibility of the interim Iraqi government, not the United States, as of the June 28 transfer of power.

THE SITE WAS LOOTED IN 2003, YOU FUCK!!!

McClellan said the Iraqi government reported the missing weaponry to the IAEA in a letter dated October 10, and the IAEA informed the U.S. mission in Vienna on October 15. National security adviser Condoleezza Rice was told a few days later, then informed the president.

Okay, let me gett his straight: After Condi found out about this, it took her a few days to tell Bush? The National Security Advisor deemed the theft of alomst 400 tons of explosives to be a security matter so urgent that it took her nearly a week to inform the president? Are we supposed to actually believe this shit?

A senior administration official played down the importance of the missing explosives, describing them as dangerous material but "stuff you can buy anywhere."

Well now, my false sense of insecurity just melted away with this comment.

The official noted that the administration did not see this necessarily as a "proliferation risk."

Likewise, there's apparently no "proliferation risk" involving dictionaries at the White House.

"In the grand scheme -- and on a grand scale -- there are hundreds of tons of weapons, munitions, artillery, explosives that are unaccounted for in Iraq," the official said.

"And like the Pentagon has said, there is really no way the U.S. military could safeguard all of these weapons depots or find all of these missing materials."

Excuse me, but, uhm, are these quotes supposed to defend the Bush administration? Let me paraphrase: "Yeah, we invaded Iraq and didn't want you to know that 380 tons of explosives were stolen. In fact, another 380 tons could be missing, but we don't know because we couldn't guard the weapons depots. Our troops were too busy guarding the Oil Ministry in Baghdad." That's competency for ya.

I don't know what else to say... I mean, wow. Just wow. These people are running the country. Think about that for a minute without risking a head explosion.
